Sign up for Subscription Services

You must first register with CLASS by accessing the "User Profile" page.  After you have received a logon name from CLASS, you may contact the CLASS Help Desk (class.help@noaa.gov) to request to be signed up for the CLASS Subscription Service.

Access Subscription Services

Once you are approved as a CLASS Subscriber, you may access the Subscription User Interface.  When you logon to CLASS as  a subscriber, there will be a new link called "Subscriptions" in the toolbar on the left-hand side of the screen (left side of Figure 1).

Click on the subscriptions link to jump to the Subscription Summary Page.  Until you create a subscription, the Subscription Summary Page will only show instructions for creating a new subscription (right side of Figure 1).

Create a New Subscription

To create a new subscription, click on the product list dropdown (Figure 2), then click on "Add New".  Clicking on "Add New" will then jump to the Subscription Search Criteria page for the specified product (Figure 4). In this example, the user wants to create a new subscription for the "CoastWatch Regions in HDF format" product.

On the Search Criteria Page, type in a name for the subscription, and make the desired search selections.  Then click on the "Delivery Options" button at the bottom of the screen to jump to the Delivery Page. (Figure 5)

Select your delivery options, then click on the "Save" button to save your subscription.  You will then return to the Subscription Summary Page, and your new subscription will be listed (Figure 6).

Modify Subscriptions

To change a subscription, click on the subscription name in the Subscription Summary page.  Figure 7 shows the Subscription Summary Page after three subscriptions have been entered, and the mouse pointer has highlighted the CW_Region Subscription.  Clicking on the subscription name opens the search criteria for the subscription (Figure 8). From there, click on the "Delivery Option" button to view and/or change those settings.  Click on the "Save" button to save all subscription changes.

Delete Subscriptions

To delete a subscription, check the checkbox in the row of the subscription(s) you wish to delete, then click on the "Delete" button (Figure 9). You will then be asked to verify that you really do wish to delete all checked subscriptions (Figure 10).

Note that checking the checkbox on the title row (the very top checkbox) will check all the checkboxes. Unchecking the checkbox will uncheck all the checkboxes.

Disable/Enable Subscriptions

Subscriptions are enabled by default.  To disable a subscription, check the checkbox in the row for the subscription(s) you wish to disable, then click on the "Disable" button.  All enabled subscriptions show "Yes" in the "Enabled" column. All disabled subscriptions show "no" in the "Enabled" Column (Figure 12).

To enable a subscription, click the checkbox in the row (the very top checkbox) will check all the checkboxes.  Unchecking this checkbox will uncheck all the checkboxes.

Email Notification

As a subscriber, you can enter additional email IDs to receive subscription notification. To manage your subscription email IDs, navigate to the "User Profile" page. Initially, you should see one email ID listed (Figure 13). To add another email ID, type in the new ID in the text box labeled "New Subscription Email" and click the "Update" button.  You should then see the new email ID listed (Figure 14).

To remove any email ID, check the checkbox named "Remove" next to that email ID, then click on the "Update" button. Note that the CLASS Subscription System will not let you delete all your email notification IDs. If you do not want to receive email notification for a subscription, you can turn it off on the "Delivery/Extraction Options" page.

Pushing Subscription Data

It is possible to have subscription data pushed to your location.  If you are interested in this service, then please contact the Help Desk at class.help@noaa.gov.  You will then be contacted by a CLASS representative and asked to provide the following information:

Once your push information has been stored in the CLASS system, you may designate any subscription as a push subscription.  This is done on the "Delivery/Extraction Options" page (Figure 15).  Specify "Yes" for "Selected destination for order", then select the host option (if you provide more than one), and type in the directory to which you want the data pushed.
